This is an all too familiar question. What is the appropriate attire for my vow renewal?
There is no hard and fast rule for this one at all. It absolutely depends on the location, the vibe you want to create and a look that makes you feel comfortable.
So, let’s look at these factors more closely.
If you were married 20 years ago and you did not have a big wedding, or you never got to wear a wedding gown, do it now!! Go ahead – wear a gorgeous bridal gown for your renewal. Believe it or not, there are wedding dresses that are suitable for every age and body shape.
Perhaps you had a very small wedding, eloped, got married in court or just did not have any money back then. So now you can go all out and have everything you didn’t have back then.
A wonderful true story I will share, happened to an amazing young couple in Las Vegas. I was fortunate enough to be involved in their events….
For their 5th wedding anniversary, they decided to renew their vows every month for the whole year. Each renewal was completely different from the others. They were able to do all this on a budget, by renting wedding dresses and tuxedos for many of the renewals.
One month they went into the mountains and renewed their vows in a magical carriage in the snow. The bride rented a long white fake fur trimmed cape. It was exquisite!
Another vow renewal was done at wild and colorful festival. The bride dyed her hair rainbow colors and rented a cute short white dress that she wore with boots.
As you can see by these examples, you can make your own dream vow renewal come true. So open your mind, be creative and be daring. No-one is judging your decision. Congrats and enjoy!!!
